When it comes to managing anxiety, there is no proven treatment however there are things that can make your day to day life a little easier.

  1. Eating and sleeping well: maintaining a healthy diet and sleeping for 7-8 hours per night can help balance your nervous system and make you feel good.

  2. Limiting exposure: if you know that certain situations or people can be stressful for you, try to limit your exposure to them as much as you can without moving into avoidant behaviours.

  3. Talk to someone: let your friends and family know how you’re feeling so that you can speak to them about when you feel extra anxious or when you just need someone to lean on.

  4. Find ways to relax: whether this means going for a run, listening to music, meditating or taking a walk; relaxing your mind and body is key for managing anxiety.

  5. Breathe: when you find yourself feeling anxious, the best thing you can do is focus on your breathing. Take deep breaths to calm yourself in the moment.
