It’s Mental Health Awareness Month!
Mental health issues are more prevalent than most of us know of. Someone you know very well might be struggling with their mental health, but feel unable to talk about it.
Mental health issues are more prevalent than most of us know of. Someone you know very well might be struggling with their mental health, but feel unable to talk about it. Unfortunately the number of people who actually seek out or receive treatment is extremely small compared to those who are suffering.
This May, we want to raise awareness about mental health and try to find ways to reduce the stigma around seeking help and talking about mental health. It should be as easy to talk about a broken leg as it is about anxiety.
A mental illness does not have to be complicated or scary. It is simply an illness of the brain that causes difficulty or disturbances in thinking, behaviour or emotional management. This illness can make day to day life look very different. There are many root causes for these illnesses that can range from daily stressors and triggers to genetics and trauma.
Mental health can have far reaching consequences which is exactly why we need to raise awareness about these issues. Stay tuned for more information!
