Anxiety is your body’s natural response to stress. For example, you might feel fearful or nervous about meeting new people or going to a new place. Anxiety is a fear or apprehensive feeling about something that has yet to happen, and can start to affect your general thoughts.

If you do feel like you’re getting anxious about certain things, there are tools you can use to cope. Here are some ideas on how to manage anxiety.

  1. Meditate: meditation is probably the healthiest habit you can incorporate into your daily routine. Meditation helps decrease blood pressure, reduce anxiety, calm your nervous system and also leads to increased happiness.
  2. Slow breathing: when we are nervous or anxious, our breathing become quicker and more shallow. By taking a moment to breathe deeply, you can start to relax your body and mind.
  3. Limit alcohol and caffeine: avoid anything that might create an imbalance in your physical or emotional being. Things like alcohol and coffee can trigger anxiety and also panic attacks.
  4. Speak to someone: whether this means a professional or a friend, sometimes, sharing what’s on your mind can greatly help you put things into perspective.
  5. Listen to music: listening to your favourite song will not only take your mind off your anxiety but it can also reduce your physical symptoms of anxiety. This is exactly what we’re trying to do with our One. program!

If your anxiety is feeling like it’s out of control or excessive, then do speak to a professional immediately.
