BLANK SLATE

You matter.
Your mental health
matters.

While mental health awareness is widespread in urban India, it is often overlooked and deprioritized in rural communities with the way the Indian healthcare system is structured. However, the need is real and we believe everyone should have access to mental healthcare in India.

Project Blank Slate is Ananya Birla Foundation’s vision to improve mental health awareness and facilitate access to solutions surrounding mental health for all those living within rural areas. Through this in-depth research project - run independently at ABF by reputed psychologists, mental health experts and research managers - the aim is to

  • Understand mental health issues that the women of our rural communities grapple with in their day-to-day life.
  • Provide life-long solutions to help alleviate these women’s stressors, introduce new coping mechanisms and provide the necessary treatment for their well-being for them to live a happier healthier life.

Project Blank Slate is a 3-phase study:

Understanding rural women’s individual narratives, and their current mental health conditions as well as documenting their daily life.

Analyzing the research derived and exploring possible solutions and scope of treatment.

Increasing awareness of these marginalized voices aiding these individuals within the rural communities through therapy, counseling and medication.
